Meet the Fred Team!

Rosie Collins

Rosie is the Creative Director at FRED. Fred is also Rosie’s dog. Rosie’s career has followed a varied path from fashion and portrait photography and directing music videos to designing a best-selling comedy greetings card range, before settling in 2016 on developing this creative studio. Rosie leads on the creative on all Fred Studio and Lab projects, and works closely with Charlotte, Ben and other regular collaborators to develop our projects.

When not in the lab, Rosie can mostly be found training Fred.

Charlotte Kemp

Charlotte is FRED’s resident cognitive neuroscientist and head of research. She works across all of the studio and lab’s projects, whether leading on research and evaluations, or adding her unique ideas to the creative process.

She has a first class BSc in Psychology and received a distinction for her MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience. She has extensive professional and academic experience in a variety of areas. Her earlier work investigated subjective phenomena (e.g. visual consciousness, implicit bias and mindwandering) from a neuroscientific perspective, utilising methodology such as EEG, functional and structural MRI, and eye-tracking. Among other projects, Charlotte has since led a team of researchers to conduct a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) across 30 schools in the UK, conducted several synthesis of secondary data and undertaken  commercial work looking at workplace wellness through a neurocognitive lens and the importance of urban greenery for psychological wellbeing. Additionally, Charlotte has over 6 years of professional experience of working with people with mental health problems, epilepsy and a variety of disabilities, in several settings.

Charlotte is passionate about making science accessible to all and is a firm advocate of the FRED philosophy of harnessing the power of play and fun in communication and education.

Ben Huss

Ben is FRED’s creative technologist and an award-winning one at that. He is a specialist in dynamic 360 film making and teaches Immersive Media (MA) at University College London (UCL). He is hugely experienced with drones, 360 film and post-production in any environment, from the desert to launching drones from a yacht and is constantly exploring new immersive technologies - whether developing our new app or creating volumetric video of his dog, Nettle. He’s a bit of a MacGyver, and always quick to come up with creative solutions to challenges - whether that’s researching new processes in pre-production, or designing and 3D printing new gadgets.
